As detailed below, William Thomas and Ada May Allan nee Cheeseman had two boys, Jack and William Alexander (Alec) Allan:
1) Jack Allan (1908-84). Born at Ballarat East, Jack, who was then working for the Victorian railways, married Sandford-born Mona Caroline Duff (1910-2003), the daughter of Andrew Duff (1885-1956) and Clara McCabe (1882-1966), at Geelong in 1931. The 1937 electoral roll has them at Bena near Wonthaggi. They spent the war years and after back at Geelong where, by 1949, Jack had left the railways and was working as a fruiterer while Mona was a greengrocer. By 1954 they had moved to Dooen near Horsham where Jack was the local hotel keeper. They both died and were buried at Horsham, Jack in 1984 and Mona in 2003. The Kane and Dolman Family Tree on Ancestry tells us Jack and Mona had one child, still living. This is supported by information sent to us by Jenny Tapungao suggesting they had a daughter (possibly named Valerie) who they think may have married someone named Brown.
The Victorian index of BDMs shows a Valerie May Allan and Thomas Brown were married in Victoria in 1960. The Australian electoral rolls shows a Thomas and Valerie May Brown were living on Tucker Street in Horsham, where Thomas worked as a butcher, from 1963 until after 1980. A recent article in the Wimmera Mail - Times reported that two Horsham residents, Val and Tom Brown, had recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary (see the photo below). The article added that 'Tom Brown was born in Horsham to Croydon Brown and his wife Myrtle, while Val was born in Geelong to Jack and Mona Allan, who later moved to Rainbow, Dooen and then finally Horsham'. The young couple courted for a number of years and married once they had saved enough money to put a deposit on a block of land on Tucker Street on which they built their first house. 'They later lived at Quantong for a number of years before returning to Horsham . . . The prominent pair has been actively involved in sport and volunteering and has three children: Ross, Lee and Dallas, and seven grandchildren' (26 March 2020).
Taken from the Duff/Guiney Family Tree on Ancestry, both photos are of Jack and Mona Allan nee Duff at Horsham in Victoria.
The one the left was taken in 1969. The one on the right was taken in 1981 on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Also from the Duff/McGuiney Family Tree, this photo was taken in Sandford in Victoria and shows Charlie, Mona
and Arthur (Paddy) Duff standing behind their grandparents Charles and Clara McCabe.

2) William Alexander ('Alec') Allan (1911-93). Born at Kaniva, Alec - pictured on the left - married Gwendoline Mary McCullagh (1912-99) in Victoria in 1933. The 'Helen Summerbell Family Tree' on Ancestry tells us Gwen's grandfather, John McCullagh (1857-1918), came from County Tyrone in Ireland and married Mary McLachlan (1858-c1920) at Koroit in Victoria in 1879. They had two boys, William, born in 1862, and Gwen's father, John McCullagh (1883-1963). John jnr was born at Yangert and died at Newp both of which are near Warrnambool in western Victoria. In 1910 he married a Queenscliff resident, Susan Frances Victoria Chiller (1888-1972) and had two children in addition to Gwen: Dorrie Therese Noy (1915-83) and John Neville McCullagh (1921-2000).
The 1936 electoral roll shows Alec, a railway employee, and Gwen living at Kiata near Nhill in Victoria. In 1937 they were at Glenloth near Wycheproof. The Department of Veterans Affairs' WW2 nominal roll shows that 42243 William Alexander Allan, born at Kaniva on 11 February 1911, enlisted in the RAAF at Melbourne on 11 February 1941 (he was then living at Glenloth and gave as his NOK Gwendoline Allan). He was discharged on 7 June 1943 while serving as a Leading Aircraftman at 1 Embarkation Depot at Ascot Vale. He had earlier enlisted in the Army and was discharged on 3 August 1941 as a trooper in the 24th Machine Gun Regiment. Gwen lived in the Melbourne suburb of Footscray during the war. The 1949 electoral roll shows she and Alec, an orchardist, at Kyabram together with an Irene Alice Allan. The 1958 roll has Alec, working as an agent, and Gwen at 35 Harfleur Street in Deliliquin in NSW. The Deniliquin Genealogical Society Website tells us Gwen and Alec both died at Deniliquin and are memorialised in the local Memorial Cemetery (no dates provided). Information sent to us by Jenny Tapungao plus other sources tell us they had three children:
1) Desmond John Allan who married Deanna Dorothy McLeary in 1957 and had five children: Deborah Ann, Deadre Jane; Peter John, Ian Desmond and Marine Dianna Allan;
2) Barry Maxwell Allan (1938-2000) who married Beverley Joyce Lean in 1964 and had three children: Dean Alexander, Nichole Joy and Amanda Lea Allan.Ancestry's Australia and New Zealand Find a Grave index shows Barry died on22 September 2000 and is buried in the Eltham Cemetery in Melbourne. His tribute in the Melbourne Herald Sun tells us he was the 'Loving and much loved Loved husband of Bev, dearly loved father of Dean, Nichloe and Amanda, father-in-law ofSharon, Rohan and Eddy and devoted Grandpa of Jamie, Chloe,Lauren,Cameron,Luke and expected Bubs' (23 September 2000).
3) Geoffrey Douglas Allan who married Joyce Lorraine Brenthall in 1970 and has three children: Rondi Dionne, Bret Thomas and Honni Alexandra Allan. The Australian electoral rolls show geoff, described as a farmer, and Joyce were living at Deniliquin at the time of the 1980 election.
