Edward Francis Burns
(1860-1946)

The photos shown below are of James Napoleon's younger brother, Edward Francis Burns. They are among a number sent to us by Simone Keane who tells us that Edward, the fourth son of John Charles Burns and Mary Commerford, was born at Dunolly in 1860. He married Agnes Ann Nolan (1867-1942) at the Roman Catholic Church at Dunolly in 1897 and had seven children (pictured below): Agnes Mary, John Joseph, Elizabeth Veronica, Albert Alphonsus, Kathleen May, Mary Lydia and Edward Francis Burns. Edward snr, who worked as a railway employee, died at Ascot Vale in Melbourne in 1946. Agnes died there in 1942.

Simone Keane tells us that the photo on the left, taken in 1937, is of the Burns brothers, Tom and Edward.
That on the right, taken on the same day, has written on the back: 'The first members of the "over 60" club'.
